SEO Tips - My Basic SEO Plan and Advice To Help Your Sites Rank Well

I have been working pretty hard the last year in an attempt to get one of my pages to rank well for a vry competitive keyword inside my niche. According to Googles keyword tool that keyword gets just under 100,000 exact phrase searches a month and over 500,000 broad phrase matches. I recently go  it to rank #2. Although it does still bounce daily between 4 and 2 most times it is #2!

Below i will go over what i did to get there. Obviously i won't give it all away but it will list some basics that i know work and work well. There are some products i used to help me get here. I will mention them and put the links at the end of this post.

To start with i knew that to get to the top i had to know what the others that were ranking for the keyword were doing so i bought Seo Spyglass. This allowed my to very quickly analyze my competitors links and get to work with getting my links on the same forums, sites, blogs and directories. I spent about an hour a night building links on blogs and forums i found with SEO Spyglass. I only used links from the top three sites in Google for my chosen keyword, i excluded any wikipedia or other mega authority sites in my analyzing.

Next i made it a point to write one article per day for my niche. I would submit this article to Ezinearticles and articlesbase,goarticles and articleslash. I would then use Magic Article rewriter to set the article up for spinning and mass submit using both  Magic Article Submitter and Article Post Robot. I probably hit about 1000 directories with this method.

To spin the article i would spin each sentence in its entirety and give it three new sentences, i would then go back and spin words within each sentence with new synonyms. This would give me articles that were very unique. I did the same for the title and resource box. I would use two anchor text links per article one pointing to my main site and the other i would rotate with various URLS of articles, blog posts,web 2.0,profile links, ETC that i posted that were pointing back to my main page. I hope that makes sense!

I used two different submitters because each has its own advantages. I like Magic Article Submitter Because it automatically signs up and creates accounts for you and Article Post Robot Submits More Consistently it seems. Although magic article submitter can easily blast out to hundreds of directories within minutes where as you have to manually sign up with Article Post Robot!

In addition Magic Article Submitter checks the status of your articles and tell you if they accepted, declined or still in review and gives you the URL of accepted articles. You can then take these article URLS and promote them as well to give more back link juice ot your  main page.

I also had a network of web 2.0 properties such as blogger,xnaga,wetpaint,hubpages and sites like that. I posted spun content to them as well. Sometimes i would make them into a link wheel type system other times i would just post straight to them linking to my mian page. I would then promote these pages as well to give their out going links more juice! You can do this by hand or use Web Link Robot 2.0 which auto mates the whole system!

I used many different methods to promote my site and feeder pages. I bought some WSO blog comment packages and also used profile links as well. The profile links i got were from WSO offers that were giving hundreds of profiles. I had about 2000 profile links to use. I then had an outsourcer add 15 profiles a day every day from these lists. I always had them use a different user name for each profile and only had 1-3 outbound links to vagarious sites but always my main page!

 Aside from profile links i would do some hand commenting on blogs i found. I also used Socialbot and RSS bot to submit alot of stuff to social sites and the RSSbot i used by turning alot of my sites from HTML in RSS using www.html2rss.com

I also made use of Free Traffic system in order to get FREE contextual anchor text links. Clickbank Progress So Far This Year - I Wish It Were Better

Alright so last year i was doing great, had alot of $100 days and thought 2010 would start with a bang! Well it has been more like a fizzle! Sales from clickbank so far this year have only been $679.68! This is way off from where i need to be to meet last years sales goals!

I am not sure if it is the economy or what! I have the hops and went from converting 1 in 25 to 1 in 217, can i get a big WTF!!! Anyways i started to try something different. I took the names of the products i created and started writing articles where people want more info about that product. I then mention why the product is so great and how it will help them, i also mention one negative about it but nothing to bad just enough to get some more trust and credibility!

For example i am using titles like "Does Whatever Product Work" "How Good Does What Ever Product Work"

i also built a few blogs in the niche and am spinning the articles and using them as posts to the blogs for some extra traffic! Even with the blogs traffic and hops are good but sales are slow!

This has brought alot more order form impression counts on my clickbank stats but not to many sales yet. I am going to max out this angle and see what happens when the economy gets better!

Additionally i signed up for Aweber and stared a list in a few niches including IM so if you want to get on my list just fill out the ugly box in the upper right hand corner!! I won't send yo worthless garbage everyday, in fact i rarely email out unless i write a new post or actually find a product worth mentioning!

Gaining More Traffic From Your Articles at Ezinearticles.com

Recently like alot of people my click through ratio at ezinearticles has decreased meaning I have less traffic coming to my sites and offers then i use to. Alot of people including myself feel it is the new adsense ad layout that is underneath the article title. It is now 3 large ads smack dab under your title, i think alot of people see them and click away before they read your articles.

I figured there had to be a way to get people to notice my article instead of the ad boxes. I came up with a simple but so far effective way to get the readers eyes to my articles.To test this theory i started a new pan name account under my main account at ezinearticles.

What I tried was For every article i put a bold headline In bold italics right at start of the article. The headline was written like a question the reader my want to find the answer to.

For example for the weight loss niche the headline could be-

"Do You Want To Lose That Last Five Pounds Fast?"

I also did some resource box tweaking and with this new account I have 40 live articles since April 28th and have 2099 views and 520 click through for a CTR of 25%. This CTR is with a few articles not having my new resource box layout and dragging it down slightly. I actually have one article with a CTR of 65%!!!!

My next post will be on what I am doing to get those 25% CTRS on my new account as opposed to the 16% my main account with just under 600 articles has.

My Revised Article Marketing Strategy Updated

Since employing my strategy of submitting rewritten articles to a few good directories and not sending the same article out to hundreds of worthless ones my traffic has increased as have my earnings and free Google traffic.

The exciting part about this is that for many lower competition terms my articles have anywhere from 4-8 spots on the front page Of Google. The websites that i was article marketing for have also got a boost in free search engine traffic as well.

I am linking this to the fact that with the article rewritter i use i can alter the anchor text links for the resource box. So i can really get a good mix of anchor text links pointing back to my pages.

This strategy took one of my sites pages with a fairly competitive term from the second page of Google to the second spot in a two weeks. Will it stay, who knows but its there now and with consistent work i believe i can cement it there!

Before when i was just slamming out the same article to the directories i never saw page domination like this so i am now buying into the negatives of duplicate content based on my own experiences.

The only thing i did recently with my old strategy was to switch to the new ArticleApps article software. This software has a lot of cool options that are not offered with regular article rewriting packages. Plus it is very easy to learn how to use and implement!

There is a free version but it limits the number of times per day you can use it and also does not give you access to the built in thesaurus and some other very cool options

While the free version will work it gives you just enough to wish you would have upgraded to the Gold version. Plus if you update right away you get a discount that is pretty big.

The only other thing i want to implement in my efforts is some auto submission software but i am researching the different ones out there and will report back once i decide on one and put it to use.

What Is The Best Adsense Color Combination

The color of your Adsense ad blocks can really make or break your sites profitability. Many people just use the standard Google color combination and never experiment. This to me really limits the earning potential you have with Adsense.


Because of my own curiosity I recently to took the ads on one of my sites and changed the colors from a color that blended with the page color (they were a light brown) scheme to standard blue color html code #0000FF. I did this because I have read so much that the Standard blue color is the universal color for links and people tend to associate this color with a link and will be more likely to click it.

The site in question has a mid double digit CTR and has had about the same CTR for over a year. The site gets about 50 visitors a day from various sources.

The day after i changed the colors from brown to blue the CTR fell in half!! It has been this way for seven days, i am changing it back tonight to get my earnings back inline.

This was a real eye opener to me as everything I have read over the past two years has stressed blue as the color of choice. I have recently heard rumblings of Red being a high converting color, this will be my next test to see if Red beats a blended Ad unit!

Keep in mind that I only change the color of top the Link line in the Adsense and I leave the text and everything else black. I also run no border and use a background the same color as my site.
